Adaptive Risk-Based Route Planning
Risk-based Route Planning is a Google Maps-based mobile application allowing the user to plan safe routes by avoiding known hotspots and predicted hotspots learned from patterns of past incidents. Built originally to support troops in Iraq to avoid IEDs it monitors event feeds and databases high risk areas. It forecasts future conditions from past and current conditions, allows the logistics planner to determine optimal routes using both the current and forecasted conditions, and enables a dynamic re-planning capability in the field that responds to real-time events by forecasting the likely downstream impact of the events and adapts the plan to optimize the likelihood of mission success.
